September is always a busy time for us at Learning with Parents. This year we’re starting the term with more partner schools than ever before, and with our biggest Schools Team to date.
As we get ready for our busiest year yet, we hear from some of our partner teachers on their experiences with the Learning with Parents programme.
Encouraging learning as a family
“The Learning with Parents activities are supporting the families in my class to enjoy learning together at home – some have said it is helping them have more ‘family time’ together at the weekends & parents are enjoying helping their children with both the English and Maths activities.” – Hanane Benhamama, Millbank Academy
“Learning with Parents gives parents real ownership over the home learning – they can choose how long they spend on the activities and I know this helps take any pressure off their home-lives too. A Year 4 parent recently told me that the activities have encouraged them to have more family time!”– Julia Shingler, Causeway Green Primary School
“Since launching Learning with Parents in September
2022, we have seen families who have never engaged
with home-learning before engage in the videos and
activities.” – Tracey Holmes, Killamarsh Infant and Nursery School
Supporting EAL families
“We have a lot of families who have English as an additional language in our school. They have found Learning with Parents really useful as it gives them reassurance that they are doing learning at home right. The videos give them the confidence to support their children and they even use the videos to practice their own English. ” – Teacher, St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary
Saving time for teachers
“Teachers have found that Learning with Parents has eased their workload when setting homework – they can easily schedule curriculum aligned topics and track family engagement” – Julia Shingler, Causeway Green Primary School
“(Learning with Parents) has relieved teachers of marking…which then allows teachers to focus on more important priorities.” – Chris Beazely, Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School
