At the end of the 24/25 academic year, we surveyed teachers using both our Digital Reading Log and our Maths/English home-learning Programme.
Here is what we found out… thank you to the teachers that participated!
81% said the Digital Reading Log is easy to use for school staff
Teacher workload is higher than ever, and reducing workload as much as possible is always at the top of our agenda when designing teacher accounts for the Digital Reading Log (and our other programmes too!)
95% agreed that their calls with the Learning with Parents team were helpful
We have termly 1:1 catch up calls with schools who partner with us, to make sure we are offering them the support they need to engage parents successfully. Our parental engagement experts talk to hundreds of schools around the country and can share parental engagement strategies that have worked well in other, similar schools.
77% of teachers said they are confident tracking class engagement
All schools have their own ways of tracking class engagement, so we’ve tried to keep engagement tracking as simple and effective as possible, while still being useful for all the different reward schemes schools use. With our live data dashboards and impact reporting, we can now offer school-wide engagement tracking all in one place too.
Listening to what teachers say
As well as hearing what teachers love about the platform – we also want to hear about any suggested improvements. Here were some of their suggestions and what our next steps are:
More Maths topics including some additional ones for time, shape and measure
Our Curriculum Team has reached out to these teachers to hear their ideas.
More advice on how to engage families who face the greatest barriers to engaging in learning at home
Our team of School Partnership Managers are continually developing the tips and advice we share with schools. We are meeting as a team over the coming months to find new tips and advice and will be sharing these with schools. Creating a CPD programme for schools to use is a priority for our organisation too.
Digital Reading Log - adding a tally of home reads for each child.
We have added this to a list of possible developments. We are also looking at ways to enhance our log so it has a strong reading for pleasure focus.
Finally…here are a few of our favourite pieces of feedback from the survey:
“The children love seeing their photos on the Activity feed. They come into the playground, tell me that they did their homework and are we going to look at the photos today!”
“As a teacher I like being able to set the homework for the next few weeks, knowing that I don’t have a mad panic every Friday morning!”
“I think it is a wonderful platform. I wish it was used by everyone.”
